Wimborne Businesses are shocked at the Go Ahead to the A31, Canford Bottom Roundabout scheme.
Wimborne BID Chairman Chris Slocock said “there has been a conspiracy of circumstances by those in power - £5.7 million and months of disruption for Wimborne and 72 traffic lights - all happening to save a few minutes for the Olympic committee journey from London to Weymouth during the Olympics in 2012.
“Yes we want the A31 improved, but we need adequate public consultation and the right scheme. The current proposals are too complicated and still retain a single carriage way and the road works will be happening at the same time as the Wimborne Town Centre scheme. Wimborne is facing months of combined disruption at a time in the economy when businesses are fighting for survival – business owners are threatening further action to stop the scheme,” added Chris.
